All of the utility services necessary to have a thriving and successful business are available in Clive. The City of Clive provides for the distribution of drinking water and the conveyance of wastewater. Mid-American Energy Company provides electric and natural gas services to the entire city with multiple providers in the area of telecommunications, including CenturyLink, Iowa Network Services and Mediacom.

City of Clive - Water and Wastewater

The City of Clive operates muncipal utility services for water distribution and wastewater conveyance. The City purchases treated drinking water from Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) with City staff providing maintenance and oversight of the distribution system located within the City limits, including water storage facilities, pumps and water mains. For wastewater the City contracts with the Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority (WRA) to provide wastewater treatment for Clive. City staff operate and maintain the City's wastewater conveyance system within the City limits. The City's local sewer trunk system connects with the WRA's major sewer trunk system to convey the wastewater to the WRA's treatment facility on the southeast side of Des Moines. MidAmerican Energy Company - Electric and Natural Gas

MidAmerian Energy is Iowa's largest energy company. Headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, the company provides service to customers in a 10,600-square mile area in Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and Nebraska. MidAmerican is responsible for electric and natural gas services for all businesses and residents in the City of Clive. In 2013 MidAmerican is asking the Iowa Utilities Board for an increase in the electric utility base rates and charges with a proposed effective date of June 16, 2013. Telecommunications

Three telecommunication companies operate within the City limits of Clive.

CenturyLink is a provider of Internet, TV and Voice services to businesses and residents. CenturyLink is headquartered in Monroe, Louisiana and is a Fortune 500 company. CenturyLink provides specific service packages to small/medium and large businesses.

Iowa Network Services (INS) offers custom voice and data communications services to over 330 Iowa communities. The services provided by INS are specifically tailored for businesses and INS has an extensive network of fiber optics throughout Clive. Their statewide fiber network features a three-location, self-healing Ethernet five-ring design with speeds capable of up to 40 Gbps and connected to serveral National Tier 1 Internet backbone providers for carrier class Internet connectivity.

Mediacom is a broadband cable company providing cable TV, Internet and voice services throughout Clive. Mediacom Business provides bundled service solutions for small and large businesses. Mediacom operates in 22 states and serves over 1,500 communities.
